Registration open for Dog N Jog 5K and 1-mile race
The College of Veterinary Medicine will host the annual Dog N Jog 5K and 1-Mile Pup Trot on Sunday, April 3. Check-in for races will start at 1:30 p.m. with official race start time at 2:30 p.m. for the 1-mile event and 3 p.m. for the 5K race. Both races will start and finish at the Veterinary Health Center, 1800 Denison Ave., Manhattan.
The event, coordinated by the College of Veterinary Medicine Class of 2023, raises money for KSDS assistance dogs, a local organization that provides guide dogs for the visually impaired, service dogs to assist individuals with physical disabilities and facility dogs to assist professionals in the field of education, counseling, health care, retirement or the legal system.
Dog N Jog resumes in-person participation after two years in virtual status due to COVID-19. Race coordinators Rachel Miller and Delaney Kinford, veterinary students in the class of 2023, say they are excited to continue the tradition.
"We are honored to bring back an important event to Kansas State," said Miller and Kinford. "We hope to rally our community to support an amazing cause that is especially significant to us as veterinary students."
Awards will be presented to first place in both races, and all participants will receive a free T-shirt. Freebies will be available for all participants — including dogs!
Additional items will also be raffled during the event:
- Private tasting at Manhattan Brewing Company.
- Cooking lesson at Five: A New American Restaurant.
- 10-karat gold caduceus necklace.
- Ruffwear dog swag and more.
The event is open to the community. Dogs are welcome to accompany, but not required for participation in the races. Registration fees will increase on March 5.
