The event is free and open to the public with advance registration at tinyurl.com/lillianlikstate2022.
Li is the author of the novel "Number One Chinese Restaurant," which was an NPR Best Book of 2018 and long-listed for the Women's Prize and the Center for Fiction's First Novel Prize. Her work has been published in the New York Times, Granta, One Story, Bon Appetit, Travel & Leisure, The Guardian, and Jezebel, among other venues.
Originally from the D.C. metro area, Li lives in Ann Arbor.
"Lillian's a terrific live reader of her work, and her prose is so sharp and strong with moments of dark comedy," said Dan Hoyt, professor of English and creative writing. "Her novel 'Number One Chinese Restaurant' is smart and funny and real in so many ways. It tells deep truths about secrets, about American immigration, and about the service industry. If you've ever waited tables or worked the line in a kitchen, this book and reading are for you."

The reading is sponsored by the Department of English in the College of Arts and Sciences and SGA Fine Arts fees.
