Auditions for the K-State Tap Dance Ensemble
Auditions for the K-State Tap Dance Ensemble 2022-2023 season will be open April 4-29. Contact Julie L. Pentz, professor of dance, at jpentz@k-state.edu to schedule your interview and audition.
The K-State Tap Dance Ensemble is committed to sharing tap dance with all communities. The ensemble accomplishes this by offering live performances, lecture demonstrations, and the Tap To Togetherness Across Populations research and community program.
The K-State Tap Dance Ensemble has been in existence since 2007. The ensemble can be seen at Manhattan retirement communities, local and surrounding public schools, the Sunset Zoo SPOOKtacular, Main Stage productions and charitable walks such as Relay for Life, Walk for ALS and Walk for Fragile X. Highlights of the ensemble include the McCain Series Savion Glover Pre-Talk show and performance and a 2021 live performance with the Topeka Symphony Orchestra.
This ensemble has a strong partnership with Kansas Parents as Teachers Programs; with national, local and regional senior living communities; and home school networks, through its Tap To Togetherness Across Populations programming and literacy initiative. This program has been supported by Kansas K-Link grant funding and has published two children's books, "Tap Tap Tap Your Toe" and "Tap Tap Tap Like a Rhinoceros."
