K-State Police Department to recognize National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week with open house today
Each year since 1981, the second week of April has been dedicated to the men and women who serve our communities' 911 dispatch centers. To recognize K-State's telecommunicators, campus police invite the public to tour the communications center from 1 to 3 p.m. today.
"We want to showcase our Communications Center and let the public meet some of our dedicated staff" says Doran Herbel the supervisor of the center.
Located at the K-State Police Department in Edwards Hall, K-State’s emergency communications center is a state-of the-art emergency communications hub for the K-State community. The center is staffed by both full-time staff and students, all of whom hold the same national certifications. The center operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
