Liu and Ning receive best presentation award
Yuhao Liu and Bin Ning have received the best presentation award from the Overseas Chinese Association of Institutional Research an affiliated group of the Association of Institutional Research. Liu serves as the lead data analyst and Ning serves as associate provost in the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment.
Their study, "Factors that May Impact the Enrollment Results of Admitted Applicants," is a collaborative project with the Office of Enrollment Management. The study helps identify key predictors of student enrollment after being admitted by the university. It also establishes a predictive algorism that allows K-State's student recruitment professionals to estimate the likelihood of an admitted applicant to enroll. The presentation has been accepted by the Association of Institutional Research for its annual conference in June.
The Office of Institutional Research and Assessment is comprised of two important functional teams: assessment of student learning and reporting and analytics. The assessment of student learning team provides leadership, support and coordination in assessing student learning outcomes in both curricular and co-curricular areas. The reporting and analytics team is the primary unit leading the development of data reports and business intelligence tools. The Office of Institutional Research and Assessment team is closely involved in the development and implementation of the institutional data strategy, promoting the use of data and analytics for informed decision making and planning, conducting research and analysis, and serving as the central clearinghouse for universitywide reporting to outside agencies.
