A.Q. Miller School announces 2022-2023 scholarship recipients
The A.Q. Miller School of Journalism and Mass Communications has awarded 92 students with scholarships totaling more than $188,700 for the 2022-2023 academic year. The recipient group includes 69 students from the school and 23 incoming freshmen. The 23 incoming freshmen were awarded $500 scholarships with a $250 match from the College of Arts and Sciences.
"One of the many things I am proud of about the A.Q. Miller School is the fact that each year, we rank as one of the top units in the College of Arts and Sciences in terms of the amount of scholarship money we award," said Steve Smethers, director of the A.Q. Miller School. "This year, we will give out over $188,000 to our students, a sum that reflects a legacy of excellence in instruction, a very harmonious relationship with the media industry and, of course, a very loyal and generous alumni base."
The 112-year-old program awards bachelor's degrees in journalism and strategic communications, as well as resident master's degrees focused on strategic communications, health and science communication, community media or digital news. The A.Q. Miller School also has a growing online master's program in strategic communications.
