Diversity Programs Office July update
The K-State College of Agriculture/K-State Research and Extension Diversity Programs Office is preparing for the final few weeks of summer programming and partnerships.
On July 18, the Diversity Programs Office will host 30 students from the Jr. MANRRS/Nicodemus Educational Camp and Faith and Hard Works Ministries for a College for a Day event at the K-State Agronomy Education Center. The College for a Day will serve as part of the three-day Veryl Switzer Nicodemus Educational Camp from July 18-21. The camp focuses on giving pre-college students the opportunity to explore majors and careers in the agricultural industry, participate in hands-on activities that teach about agricultural sciences, and learn about the historic town of Nicodemus. The camp is made possible in partnership with the K-State College of Agriculture Diversity Programs Office, Kansas Black Farmers Association and the late K-State legend, Veryl Switzer. Switzer's recent passing will be commemorated through the program's continued success and education of underrepresented youth.
The Diversity Programs Office is also looking forward to welcoming the 2022 Project IMPACT KOMPASS cohort to campus Aug. 14-16. KOMPASS is an intensive three-day program introducing incoming freshman multicultural students to campus, resources and tools to ensure their success throughout their college careers at K-State.
As a reminder, please save the date for the 16th annual KSRE Summer Research Fellows Program Closing Ceremony at 9 a.m. Thursday, July 28, in the K-State Student Union, Wildcat Chamber or via Zoom ID: 989 4084 6882. Learn more.
We hope to see everyone on campus soon. Thank you for supporting our efforts toward a more diverse, inclusive and equitable campus and KSRE workforce.
