K-Staters are invited to celebrate the 75th Independence Day of India on Monday, Aug. 15. Indian Independence Day is celebrated every year by the Indian Students Association, a registered student organization, as a reminder of the country's pride, virtues, cultural richness, diversity and history.
Richard Linton, K-State president, will visit this important occasion and serve as the distinguished chief guest for the event. Vara Prasad, university distinguished professor and director of the Sustainable Intensification Innovation Lab at K-State, will deliver a keynote address. A ceremony of hoisting both the American flag and Indian flag will take place at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 15, at Long's Park at Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Yuma Street. A vocal group from the music program will sing the American national anthem and Indian students/community will sing the Indian national anthem.
