Goins publishes interview with son of legendary recording artist
Submitted by School of Music, Theatre, and Dance
Wayne Goins, university distinguished professor of music, conducted an exclusive interview/CD review with Grant Green Jr., the son of legendary Detroit jazz guitarist Grant Green, the prolific Blue Note Records recording artist who seamlessly fused bebop, blues, soul and funk into one unique style.
In the interview, Goins focuses on the new disc recently released by Grant Jr. titled "Thank You, Mr. Bacharach," a tribute album that features six tunes that display Green's impressive arranging skills as he interprets Bacharach's classic tunes and shapes them into intriguing instrumental forays.
The interview is featured in the August 2022 issue of Jazz Guitar Life, the premier online journal for jazz guitar enthusiasts all around the world. Goins, a contributing writer to the magazine, regularly publishes a wide variety of pieces, including exclusive jazz artist profiles, CD reviews and articles specifically focused on jazz education.
