Welcome to the fall 2022 semester
Submitted by President Richard Linton
K-State Community:
Welcome to the official start of the fall 2022 semester! I say "official start" because I know many of you have been preparing for this day already for quite some time. In fact, there have been lots of wheels in motion all summer long:
- K-State's accreditation with the Higher Learning Commission was officially renewed after a comprehensive review process that began last spring.
- We have launched a new scholarship model for incoming students starting in summer/fall 2023 that increases educational access and affordability, which are, of course, critical to our land-grant mission.
- We officially launched three searches for vacant cabinet-level positions: Our vice president for diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging; vice president for administration and finance; and vice president for communications and marketing.
- We onboarded our external partner for the new strategic planning initiative and have since been hard at work making preparations to begin a comprehensive stakeholder input process — more information on that coming soon!
- We announced details about our regional community visits, including the schedule for our kickoff event in the Flint Hills Region on Sept. 1. This is our way of demonstrating our commitment to Kansans and heightening awareness for and access to the educational and experiential opportunities K-State offers.
As I reflect on all of these accomplishments and acknowledge the time and effort it takes from all of our faculty and staff to prepare for the start of a semester, I am truly humbled and inspired by all that you do to make this university everything that it is. Each and every one of you plays a critical role day in and day out to serve our students; advance our mission of teaching, research and service; and do our part to make our communities — and the world around us — a better place. Know that you are appreciated and know that I am excited about all we are accomplishing together.
Thank you for all that you do for Kansas State University. Let's make this semester the best one yet!
Go 'Cats!
