Cambio Para Cambio: Tamales fundraiser update
The Hispanic American Leadership Organization, or HALO, a registered departmental student organization participated in this year's Cambio Para Cambio campaign. Cambio para Cambio, which translates to "Change for Change," took place during Hispanic Heritage Month.
The event engaged Latino high school, college students, businesses and professional organizations in philanthropy benefiting the Hispanic Development Fund Scholarship Program. Every dollar donated during the campaign was matched by the generous development fund donors, doubling the giving power and impact of donor gifts. HALO at K-State fundraised $10,063.44 this year for Cambio Para Cambio! HALO had decided to sell tamales this year to help contribute. The organization sold red pork tamales and green chicken tamales. Each order consisted of six tamales for $12.
We are incredibly grateful for support that our K-State community has shown for this incredible campaign. We had not anticipated the volume of the orders that were placed, with orders totaling more than 1,200 individual tamales. Our HALO volunteers are working hard to fill every order alongside the incredible group of students, staff and professors from Lacy's Fresh Fare and Catering.
The first pick up dates will be:
- Nov. 1, 6-7 p.m. in the Union's courtyard.
- Nov. 2, 6-8 p.m. in the Union's courtyard.
We are still in the process of making the last of the orders. Pick up is first come first serve, but rest assured, we will fill every order. If your order is not filled at the dates above, please keep an eye out for our next K-State Today post where we will be announcing the next pickup date. We will announce more pick up dates and information within the next two weeks.
Please bring identification with your name on it if you were picking an order. Contact us via email at kstatehalo@gmail.com if you have any questions comments or concerns.
