Boglarka Davies named recipient of Rising Star Young Leader Regional Award
Boglarka "Bogi" Davies, international student advisor, was recently announced as the winner of the NAFSA: Association of International Educators, Region II Rising Star Young Leader Award 2022 during the NAFSA Region II Conference in October 2022.
NAFSA: Association of International Educators is the world's largest nonprofit association dedicated to international education and exchange. The state of Kansas falls in Region II, which includes Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming.
Created in 2015, the Rising Star Young Leaders Award recognizes a professional who has impacted the field of international education during the first five years of their career.
Davies began working in the International Student and Scholar Services office at K-State in 2019 and immediately made her presence felt.
"Bogi was no stranger to K-State, she attended K-State as an international student-athlete from Hungary as an undergraduate student," said Sara Thurston, director of International Student and Scholar Services. "Her excellent work reflects her K-State experience and her passion to help other internationals while at Kansas State."
"Bogi shows empathy, enthusiasm, and passion in her daily work as she serves international students at Kansas State," said Stacey Bailey, assistant director, International Student and Scholar Services. "She is willing to think creatively, learn new skills and willing to help others. She brings a positive, can-do attitude to her work daily. We are fortunate to have her on the ISSS team!"
Davies is only the second person from Kansas State University to win this award from NAFSA, and only the third person from Kansas State University to win any of the annual awards presented by NAFSA. Please join us in congratulating her on this great honor.
"This is a well-deserved recognition for Bogi Davies as she is passionate about serving international students and is willing to help out the international students and scholar services office wherever needed," said Grant Chapman, associate provost for international programs. "She is a wonderful, kind and excellent international student advisor."
