Sexuality and Gender Alliance to host Red Ribbon Ball
The K-State Sexuality and Gender Alliance will host the annual Red Ribbon Ball from 7-10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at D-Town on 4th, 221 N. Fourth St., Manhattan.
The Red Ribbon Ball is a commemorative event and fundraiser acknowledging AIDS Awareness Month. This event is to honor and remember all who have been lost to the AIDS epidemic and celebrate how far we have come. The event is a fundraiser and celebration to raise money and awareness for AIDS and HIV prevention and awareness with our free testing partner, Positive Connections.
The event will include a DJ, dancing, food, auction, drag performance, fun times for all and celebrating the support and resilience of the LBGTQ+ community. All are welcome to attend: K-State students, faculty, staff, community members and high school students ages 16-18. Tickets are $5 for K-State students with a valid K-State ID, $10 for community members, and a suggested donation for high school students. Let's get fancy and celebrate with your finest duds. The dress code for the event is business casual.
This year Ty Woo, K-State graduate and prolific drag show performer, will be emcee for the event and perform a special Red Ribbon Ball performance experience that is not to be missed. Tickets are available through the Sexuality and Gender Alliance Organization or at the LGBT Resource Center. Stop by and pick up your tickets to the ball before they run out.
We hope to see all the K-State love for the community and this amazing event out in Purple Pride. For questions and information please contact the LGBT Resource Center at lgbt@k-state.edu or 785-532-5352.
