Sarah Brooks recognized as Professional Staff of the Week
Sarah Brooks, IT support specialist II in the College of Agriculture, was recognized as Professional Staff Member of the Week at the Dec. 6 men's home basketball game.
Faculty Senate, the Office of the President, K-State Athletics and the Division of Communications and Marketing wish to recognize her contributions to K-State.
Working in the College of Agriculture student records office, Brooks is the go-to person for all technical subjects. She has greatly improved the efficiency of office processes, resulting in improved response times to student and faculty inquiries and more robust information for decision-making.
Brooks has led efforts to improve and standardize communication platforms used by faculty and staff. She has also assisted faculty with the adoption of new electronic communication tools to foster increased communication and collaboration between faculty and students. Her efforts have simplified and streamlined evaluation of transfer credits using new electronic document tools, leading to an improved experience for new students in the college. She serves on several university-level committees, providing ideas on the best use of technology for student support.
Brooks is a patient, effective teacher and has helped administrators become better leaders and managers through the use of technology. She has a positive, can-do attitude even when faced with budget and technology limitations. Her creative approach to the use of technology for student success has significantly raised the level of service our college provides while making more efficient use of faculty and staff time.
Brooks earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees from K-State.
