Calling all water researchers
The Kansas Center for Agricultural Resources and the Environment, or KCARE, will host a lunch on Wednesday, Dec. 21, with the aim of gathering faculty and graduate students from different departments and colleges together to discuss their interests in water research.
The event will provide a handful of lightning presentations about different facets of water research at K-State. Participants will be encouraged to network with new connections to learn more about ongoing projects and to share their research interests with others.
According to KCARE Director Susan Metzger, there is a tremendous amount of water research in progress at K-State, but often faculty aren't aware of others' projects. She hopes that by providing informal opportunities to meet, these conversations will lead to new research directions for water-related research.
"It will be wonderful to get everyone into the same room," Metzger said. "Most of our scientists have heard about work within their own department, but it's impossible to have your finger on the pulse of every project and all the opportunities for water research at K-State. We're hoping that this will be the first of many opportunities for our faculty to make these key connections."
The luncheon will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, in the Bluemont Room at the K-State Student Union. Attendees are free to come and go as needed, and a catered lunch will be provided. Those interested in attending should email kstatekcare@k-state.edu to be registered.
