COACHE survey of faculty satisfaction now online
Submitted by Communications and Marketing
The office of the provost has posted the results of the 2011 Collaborative on Academic Careers in Higher Education, or COACHE, survey of faculty satisfaction. COACHE is a faculty satisfaction survey project of the Harvard Graduate School of Education. The original survey was developed in 2003. It was administered in 2005, and again in 2008 and 2011. COACHE originally designed the survey to assess the satisfaction of pre-tenured faculty across the country, but the 2011 version included tenured faculty, as well as a small sample of non-tenure track faculty.
The 2011 survey assessed the level of satisfaction felt by faculty members across many areas, including the nature of work, facilities and resources, personnel and human resource policies, promotion and tenure policies, leadership, collegiality and recognition.
More than 580 K-State faculty members, from tenured to tenure track to non-tenure track ranks, participated in the survey in 2011. The report shows K-State faculty responses compared to the many other universities that participated in the survey, as well as internal comparisons of various subgroups, such as by rank, gender or ethnicity.
The survey report is available on the planning and analysis website. If you have any questions, please contact Brian Niehoff at niehoff@k-state.edu.
