Kansas Legislature week nine update
This week the Legislature Committees are meeting for the final two weeks of the Kansas Legislative Session on bills that are not exempt from Legislative deadlines. The final day for Legislative Committees to take action is March 24.
This week the Senate and House both turn their attention to budget issues. The Senate plans to debate Senate Bill 155, which contains the Senate recommendations to the Governor’s Budget for fiscal year 2024 and beyond, on Tuesday, March 14. Also on Tuesday, the House Higher Education Budget Committee will present the committee’s recommendations to House Appropriations Committee. The Kansas Legislative Research Department posts budget documents online.
In other action this week, the House Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee will be briefed on the
“Dairy, Teaching, Extension and Research Assessment Study” on Wednesday, March 15. The 2022 Kansas Legislature authorized this study.
