National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week: Thank you K-State dispatch staff
Submitted by K-State Police Department
Please join the Kansas State University Police Department in recognizing its incredible dispatch staff: Jason Blackburn, Barb O'Connor, Jenna Hammond, Caitlin Hunsaker and Brianna Maldonado in honor of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.
Across the nation in times of intense personal crisis and communitywide disasters, the first access point for those seeking all classes of emergency services is 9-1-1. The local and county emergency communications centers that receive these calls have emerged as the first and single point of contact for persons seeking immediate relief during an emergency.
The K-State Police Department is celebrating National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week April 9-15. This week, sponsored by the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials International and celebrated annually, honors the thousands of individuals who respond to emergency calls, dispatch emergency professionals and equipment, and render life saving assistance to the citizens of the United States.
The importance of recognizing and celebrating the hard work of these dedicated professionals at every level is immeasurable.
