History department announces graduate award recipients for summer 2023
The history department recognizes and congratulates the following graduate students who received departmental awards:

Bradley Galka: Anne S. Higham Memorial History Award and Colonel Peter Cullen Military History Fellowship.
Lisa Caitlin Highsmith: Shirley A. Martin Scholarship.
Melanie Highsmith: Shirley A. Martin Scholarship, Harvey Hougen Memorial Scholarship, and Ina Belle (Wilson) Mueller Scholarship for Graduate Research in History.
Scott McIntosh: Leroy E. and Mary Sullivan Page Fund for Graduate Students in History and Anne S. Higham Memorial History Award.
Roberta Meloni: Clyde and Marilena Ferguson Graduate Scholarship, Kenneth W. Jones Graduate Student Travel Fund, and Shirley A. Martin Scholarship.

Lacy Sims: Shirley A. Martin Scholarship and the Beach-Young Kansas History Scholarship.
Kenneth Smith: Robin Higham Military History Graduate Student Research and Travel Fund, Kenneth W. Jones Graduate Student Travel Fund, Cora Stewart Wilcoxon Graduate Fellowship, Shirley A. Martin Scholarship and outstanding teaching award: Dr. A. Bower Sageser Memorial Scholarship.
Paxton Stover: Colonel Peter Cullen Military History Fellowship.
Zane Whitney: Cora Stewart Wilcoxon Graduate Fellowship, James C. Carey Graduate Student Research and Travel Fund, Colonel Peter Cullen Military History Fellowship, and Florence M. Hamscher Graduate Research Fund.
The total amount awarded for the summer 2023 semester was more than $58,000. All of these funds will go toward research and travel purposes.
