Kilgore performs at International Trumpet Guild Conference

John Kilgore, teaching assistant professor of trumpet, was invited by the International Trumpet Guild to perform as a soloist at the 2023 ITG Conference on June 2 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Kilgore performed the solo "Parallel" composed by Juan Carlos Valencia Ramos — a new work for trumpet and piano — as part of the International Trumpet Guild New Works Recital series.
With membership spanning 56 countries, the International Trumpet Guild is the world's largest organization dedicated to advancing research, performance, education, and scholarship related to trumpet.
Since 2019, Kilgore has been on the faculty at the Kansas State University School of Music, Theatre, and Dance. As a scholar and performer, he has presented research and performed at the International Trumpet Guild Conference, is regularly published in the ITG Journal, and performs with the Boise Philharmonic and Wichita Symphony, among others. As an invited clinician, Kilgore has presented master classes and recitals at institutions such as the University of Missouri Kansas City Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music, Oklahoma State University, Ohio University and Wichita State University, among others. As a teacher, his students and studio have competed at the National Trumpet Competition. Kilgore holds degrees from Ohio University and the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati. He holds a doctorate in music from Florida State University.
