Joint research poster session set for Aug. 1
The public is invited to a research poster session to learn about current research activities at K-State from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, Aug. 1, in the Fiedler Hall atrium. This poster session will focus on research completed by undergraduate students and relating to sustainable bioenergy, sustainable energy, climate change, biosecurity, ecology and evolutionary biology and energy nanotechnology.
More than 50 poster presentations will be made by Research Experience for Undergraduate, or REU, or Undergraduate Research and Mentoring, or URM, students who have participated in the Summer Academy in Sustainable BioEnergy REU; the Earth, Wind, and Fire: Sustainable Energy for the 21st Century REU; the Climate Change and Mitigation REU program; the Chemistry REU: Biosecurity REU; Undergraduate Research and Mentoring in Ecological Genomics (Biology URM); and the Energy Nanotechnology REU. Each of these programs has provided research experiences for undergraduates during summer 2013.
These visiting undergraduates come from across the USA and Puerto Rico and have worked with faculty and graduate students from the departments of agricultural economics, agronomy, biological and agricultural engineering, biology, biochemistry, chemical engineering, chemistry, electrical and computer engineering, grain science and industry, plant pathology and sociology.
Funding for the summer research programs has been provided by the National Science Foundation. Awards, sponsored by ConocoPhillips and Phillips 66, will be presented for the best posters.
