Attend KS-LSAMP RiPS research symposium July 27

Join the K-State College of Agriculture Diversity Programs Office and the Office of Student Success at the Kansas Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation, Research Immersion: Pathways to STEM, or KS-LSAMP RiPS, Final Research Poster Symposium from 10-11:30 a.m. Thursday, July 27, in the K-State Student Union's Bluemont Room. 

At the event, each of the six 2023 RiPS students will give a poster presentation about their summer research projects. The students have produced tangible research results demonstrating their knowledge of experimental research and results throughout the past eight weeks.

This year, the final research presentations will be in conjunction with the Kansas State University Research Experience for Undergraduates, or REU, Final Research Symposium, where numerous REU groups across campus will present the results from their research, all in the K-State Student Union's Bluemont Room on July 27. All are invited to attend.

The following students are participants in the 2023 KS-LSAMP RiPS Program:

  • Xania Cobian, Dodge City Community College, Associate of Science. Mentor: Lydia Zeglin, Division of Biology. 
  • Jessica Davis, Kansas State University, medical laboratory science. Mentor: Bill Hsu, computer science department. 
  • Dennis Meyer, Kansas State University, computer science and mechanical engineering departments. Mentor: Torben Amtoft, applied human sciences department. 
  • Osbel Oceguera-Regaldo, Seward County Community College, Associate of Science. Mentor: Husain Aziz, civil engineering department. 
  • Marco Ramirez Ramirez, Donnelly University, Associate of Art. Mentor: Walter Dodds, Division of Biology. 
  • Javier Vazquez, Kansas State University incoming transfer student from Dodge City Community College, biomedical science. Mentor: Sanzhen Liu, plant pathology department. 

This summer's RiPS cohort has been hosted through the College of Agriculture Diversity Programs Office in partnership with the Office of Student Success and the KS-LSAMP Alliance. The staff members were Zelia Z. Wiley, coordinator; Summer Santillana, co-coordinator; Raymond Thomas, graduate assistant; and Mirit Shamir, KS-LSAMP coordinator.
