Jazz professor to receive outstanding achievement award
Wayne Goins, professor of music, will attend a dinner in his honor Nov. 19 at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga to receive the African American Alumni Achievement Award.
As part of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga's 125th anniversary and the University of Tennesse's 50th anniversary of desegregation, the two-day ceremony honors university alumni for significant contributions to community and society in athletics, business, community/civic work, education, engineering, technology, entertainment and the arts, entrepreneurship, health care and the sciences. Goins is the first ever to receive this award for his outstanding achievements in the fine arts.
