K-State partners with Rudd Foundation to offer new scholarship opportunity to students
Submitted by Office of Enrollment Management
Kansas State University has expanded scholarship opportunities for its students by becoming a participating institution in the Rudd Scholarship Program.
The Rudd Scholarship is for Kansas residents with demonstrated financial need, ambition and determination to achieve their career goals. It will be available to K-State students starting with the incoming fall 2024 class of Wildcats.
The four-year award is designed to pay any remaining costs associated with tuition and fees, books and supplies, and room and board after all other scholarships and financial aid have been applied. The scholarship can only be applied toward full-time studies at Emporia State University, Fort Hays State University, Wichita State University and now K-State.
According to the Rudd Foundation, the award aims to help the brightest Kansas minds stay in Kansas and build new businesses, teach in its schools, lead in its communities and achieve excellence in all that they do right here in Kansas.
To be eligible for the 2024 class of scholars, students must graduate high school in 2024 with a cumulative, unweighted GPA of at least 3.0; have Kansas residency and qualify for in-state tuition; qualify for a Pell Grant; and be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
"We're excited about the opportunities this partnership will create for our students," said Karen Goos, vice provost of enrollment management at K-State. "The Rudd Foundation's generous support will allow these deserving scholars to pursue the full K-State student experience — academics, community building, co-curricular learning, faculty mentorship and meaningful career development — while ensuring they graduate debt-free."
Once a student is selected for the Rudd Scholarship, they must continue to meet program requirements, including living on campus, participating in extracurriculars, maintaining a cumulative 3.0 GPA, completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid annually and taking part in Rudd Scholar Program activities.
Incoming fall 2024 students who are interested in the Rudd Scholarship can apply on the Rudd Foundation website from October 2023 to February 2024.
