Agronomy professor attends inaugural session of Global Soil Partnership
Chuck Rice, university distinguished professor of agronomy, represented the Soil Science Society of America at the First Plenary Session of the Global Soil Partnership, or GSP, June 11-12 in Rome, Italy. The partnership was created by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. The first plenary session was a milestone as its members provided fruitful guidance and endorsed a number of vital steps towards effective implementation of the partnership.
The main outcomes of this plenary assembly were the approval of the rules of procedure of the partnership, the establishment of the Intergovernmental Technical Panel on Soils, and support toward the celebration of World Soil Day and the International Year of Soils 2015.
