Gary Pierzynski, agronomy professor and department head, moderated a panel discussion titled "Drowning and Drought: Agricultural Impacts of Climate Change" at the 2013 American Geophysical Union’s Science Policy Conference, June 24-26, in Washington, D.C.

Two of the four members of the panel were graduates of K-State — Cesar Izaurralde, currently laboratory fellow at the Joint Global Change Research Institute, a collaboration of the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and the University of Maryland; and Vance Ehmke, producer from Healy. Izaurralde received his doctorate in agronomy at K-State. Others on the panel were Bill Travis, University of Colorado, and Benjamin Collier, University of Kentucky.

The topic of this panel discussion was how agricultural scientists and producers are affected by climate change, its impacts on soil and crop production, and what the future might hold.
