Changes announced for Sponsored Programs Accounting, PreAward Services
In support of operational excellence at K-State, effective Oct. 1, Sponsored Programs Accounting will transition from the Division of Financial Services to a unit reporting to the Office of the Vice President for Research.
"This one-office approach to the full life cycle of research administration will streamline oversight and provide more cohesive services for the faculty in support of the Next-Gen K-State research growth goals," said David Rosowsky, vice president for research.
In response to feedback received pursuant to previous research infrastructure task force outreach initiatives, plans to increase synergy in developing resources and automated solutions to assist faculty with the management of their projects are already underway.
"Sponsored Programs Accounting and PreAward Services have been collaborating on research administration for more than 31 years," said Ethan Erickson, vice president for administration and finance. "This transition simply formalizes and streamlines that relationship for the benefit of the research community."
As a part of this transition, the Office of PreAward Services will be renamed the Office of Sponsored Programs. Services this office will provide include review, assembly and submission of proposals; receipt, review and acceptance of sponsored programs and awards; contract development and negotiation; subaward development and negotiation; and post-award administration and accounting for sponsored programs and awards.
Staff in Sponsored Programs Accounting will move from the Unger Complex as a part of the decommissioning of that building. Their new location is to be determined. Contact information for accounting staff will remain the same.
