Results of deferred maintenance project call for proposals
Kansas State University has created a plan to address deferred maintenance totaling more than $12 million by aligning projects with critical priorities of the Next-Gen K-State strategic plan.
Following a call for proposals, the university will utilize one-time funds appropriated from the Kansas Legislature in addition to one-to-one match funding provided by colleges and units, addressing much-needed maintenance and renewal to aging university facilities. Additionally, the projects support the university and Kansas Board of Regents' initiatives to improve space and classroom utilization, eliminate deferred maintenance, align with strategic enrollment management, research and service missions, and address life safety ADA or code issues.
Of the available funds, the university allocated $3.2 million to support renovations to infrastructure necessary to relocate departments from Unger Complex to existing main campus facilities and $210,000 to support K-State Salina campus infrastructure. The remaining $2.5 million will be allocated in support of eight projects recommended by the Campus Planning and Development Advisory Committee, which also align with the university's new strategic plan.
