Carl R. Ice College of Engineering announces faculty and staff awards
The Carl R. Ice College of Engineering presented its annual awards to faculty and staff at its fall convocation on Wednesday, Sept. 27. The awards are designed to commend the dedication of the college's faculty and staff in support of its teaching, research, service and outreach programs.
Below are the 2023 winners:
Charles H. Scholer Faculty Award — Hongyu Wu, associate professor of electrical and computer engineering.
Clair A. Mauch Steel Ring Advisor of the Year — Mohammadhosein Ghasemi Baboly, teaching assistant professor of mechanical and nuclear engineering.
Engineering Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching — William Hageman, teaching professor of electrical and computer engineering.
Engineering Distinguished Researcher Award — Hayder A. Rasheed, professor of civil engineering.
Engineering Staff Award of Excellence — Cathleen Stotts, budget/fiscal coordinator, dean’s office, and Mandy Smith, graphic designer, dean’s office.
Frankenhoff Outstanding Research Award — Pascal Hitzler, professor of computer science.
Larry E. and Laurel Erickson Public Service Award — Gary A. Clark, senior associate dean and professor of biological and agricultural engineering.
Myers-Alford Memorial Teaching Award — Behrooz Mirafzal, professor of electrical and computer engineering, and Arslan Munir, associate professor of computer science.
Outstanding Assistant Professor Award – Chuancheng Duan, assistant professor of chemical engineering; Jeongdae Im, assistant professor of civil engineering; Raj Kumar Pal, assistant professor of mechanical and nuclear engineering; and Vaishali Sharda, assistant professor of biological and agricultural engineering.
Robert R. and Lila L. Snell Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award — Julia Keen, professor of architectural engineering and construction science.
Sue Barsamian Engineering Award for Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion –Julia Keen, professor of architectural engineering and construction science.
Dean's Award of Excellence-Teaching — Lisa Wilken, associate professor of biological and agricultural engineering.
Dean's Award of Excellence-Service — Katie Loughmiller, associate professor of architectural engineering and construction science.
