K-State Operation Military Kids summer camps for military youth and families
K-State's Operation Military Kids has been awarded a U.S. Department of Defense grant to conduct two residential camps this summer for military-connected teens and families. Both camps will be at Rock Springs 4-H Center :
- Aug. 8-10: Express Yourself teen camp
- Aug. 17-18: Purple on the Prairie family camp
K-State students who are trained in military culture, resilience-building activities, and youth and family development will be leading the camp with faculty from the School of Family Studies and Human Services Extension in the College of Human Ecology.
Operation Military Kids just completed a day camp for 50 children at Fort Leavenworth. Co-sponsoring that camp was the Fort Leavenworth Child, Youth and School Services, and Leavenworth County 4-H Extension.
