Mentors needed for Guide to Personal Success program
The Guide to Personal Success, or GPS, program needs faculty, staff, graduate students and recent K-State alumni to mentor first-year students for the 2013-2014 academic year.
The program matches first-year students with a campus professional for a one-on-one mentoring relationship. The program strives to create a strong campus community and increase first-year engagement by fostering interactions between students and K-State professionals.
Over the past four years, more than 1,400 students have been served by this program. Students are coming to K-State with an interest in networking and a desire to get connected right away. For many, participating in Guide to Personal Success is one of the critical factors affecting their success. As the program enters its fifth year on campus, more guides are needed than ever before to mentor one or two students for the academic year.
The program requires a minimal time-commitment each semester, encouraging guides to meet face-to-face with mentees at least three times per semester. The program will provide monthly Connect Events that guides and mentees may attend together, but these events are optional. Each guide and mentee relationship is different, as this program allows a unique and personalized mentoring opportunity for everyone involved.
