Harrison to present on Navajo code talkers of World War II
Spintz Harrison, teaching associate professor of American ethnic studies in the social transformation studies department, will present on the Navajo code talkers of World War II at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, in Room 13 of Leasure Hall.
The Navajo code talkers changed military war communication tactics by creating a code based upon the Navajo language that could send and receive messages in seconds. Even master code breakers were confused and baffled with what they heard. The code was never broken and remained unbroken until it was declassified. Learn how the code was created, its impact on the war and why Navajo code talkers were silenced after the war ended.
