Celebrate National STEM Day with the K-State NSTA student chapter
The student chapter of the National Science Teaching Association invites the K-State community, area school districts, and current and future science teachers to share in its annual celebration of National STEM Day at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, in Bluemont Hall Room 21.
Three College of Education secondary science alumni will share "Why I Teach Science" presentations followed by highlights from preservice teachers' recent presentations at the National Science Teaching Association Annual Conference Oct. 25-28 in Kansas City, Missouri.
Brice Hendryx, secondary Earth and space science, will share key elements of his presentation "3-Dimenisonal Science Teaching and Learning." Kelsey Wilson, secondary biology, will summarize her presentation "Engineering Design Process (EDP)-Science Instruction."
The event will culminate with attendees engaging in a discrepant event activity about a science phenomenon.
Kimberly Staples, associate professor of curriculum and instruction and student chapter advisor, welcomes all who are interested in the voices of current and future science teachers and Next Generation Science Standards.
