Save the date for January 'Water Wednesday' event
The Kansas Water Institute and Hale Library will co-host the first "Water Wednesday" luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17. This networking event will highlight water resource challenges and the ways that research, teaching and engagement at K-State is helping to tackle those challenges.
"K-State has an amazing depth of expertise about water resources, and these monthly 'Water Wednesdays' will give us an opportunity to engage with others who might not be in the same department or even college," said Susan Metzger, director of strategic interdisciplinary program development and director of the Kansas Center for Agricultural Resources and the Environment.
For those interested in attending, an RSVP link will be made available at the beginning of January. All faculty and Extension professionals are invited, but space will be limited to the first 60 registrants. Lunch will be provided.
Each "Water Wednesday" will focus on a specific water-related topic. The session will begin with one or two flash presentations, and the remainder of the event will be devoted to networking and forming collaborations for teaching, grant proposals or other opportunities.
"We know that our big water challenges can't be addressed from only one discipline or department; it's going to take all of our experts leveraging their unique talents and knowledge," said Metzger.
The Kansas Water Institute will offer these events monthly, in an effort to facilitate impactful communication between water resource professionals and to disseminate research results. For more information about the Kansas Water Institute or "Water Wednesdays," contact water@k-state.edu.
