Attend the Three-Minute Thesis competition today
The K-State community is invited to attend the first round of the annual Three Minute Thesis, or 3MT, competition today, Feb. 7.
The first round of the competition will consist of eight heats of presentations between 9:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. in the K-State Student Union, Room 227 and the Flint Hills Room.
Sixty-nine graduate students will give a three-minute presentation of their research using a single slide. Thirty-two presenters are master's students and 37 are doctoral students. The participants represent seven academic colleges and 27 graduate programs. A schedule of presentations can be found on the 3MT website.
Creating a strong 3MT presentation isn't easy. It's a challenge for graduate students to present a compelling and easy to understand presentation on their topic to a non-expert audience in three minutes using only a single static slide.
Not only is the 3MT a valuable opportunity for graduate students to strengthen their communication skills, it is also an exciting way for K-State students, faculty and staff to learn about variety of important research being conducted by graduate students and their faculty mentors.
Also, mark your calendars for the final round of the 3MT competition at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 22 in the K-State Student Union Ballroom.
Questions about the competition may be directed to Megan Miller, Graduate School assistant director of student success, at mmmiller@k-state.edu.
