Submitted by Ashley A. Schiffer
As part of the Teaching and Learning Center's Professional Development Series, Beth Pesnell, teaching assistant professor in the College of Education, will present "Strategies to Enhance Student Engagement and Encourage Visible Thinking" from noon to 1 p.m. today, Wednesday, April 10, via Zoom.
Thinking encompasses skills coupled with dispositions like open-mindedness, creativity, curiosity, skepticism and valuing evidence. It is rooted in social interaction, but our thinking is often invisible to others, and often to ourselves. Making thinking visible empowers learners. Expressing thoughts through diverse methods ensures voices are heard, perspectives are valued, and enhances thinking and learning are effective. Strategies supporting interaction levels and making student think visibly in various settings will be explored.
