Internal search for College of Arts and Sciences associate dean for student success
Melinda Cro, associate dean for student success, engagement and undergraduate studies and professor of French and Italian in the College of Arts and Sciences at Kansas State University, will leave her position effective June 30 to become dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Oklahoma State University. A farewell celebration will be held in May.
The college is currently conducting an internal search for a replacement to start prior to June 30. The associate dean of student success position is a 12-month, full-time administrative appointment with tenure in an academic unit of the college.
The College of Arts and Sciences is K-State's largest college, with more than 120 areas of study and more than 5,000 graduate and undergraduate students. The college's 22 departments cover all areas of the visual and performing arts, the humanities, and the social, physical and life sciences.
The associate dean of student success oversees all aspects of the student experience, from entry into the admissions funnel through graduation. This includes development, planning and implementation of student success initiatives and high impact practices, overseeing the training and professional development of advisors in the college, responding to academic integrity and other student issues and assisting in student scholarship awarding, oversight of interdisciplinary programs housed in the dean's office, and serving on the college budget team.

Cro was appointed assistant dean of students for the College of Arts and Sciences in 2022. She was promoted to her current position in January 2024. In this role, Cro has led the college's academic advising and student success endeavors, strategic enrollment management, and admissions, and has been a key voice in the college's planning.
