Auditions for K-State Theatre's production of 'Philoctetes'
Submitted by the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance
The K-State Theatre, Drama Therapy and Dance programs are hosting auditions for their production of "Philoctetes" from 8-9 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, in the Chapman Theatre. Any student at K-State can audition for K-State Theatre productions.
The production will feature five students, five military veteran students as chorus and five dance students.
About the play: In the midst of the Trojan War, the Greeks seek victory by retrieving Philoctetes and his powerful bow from exile. Odysseus and Neoptolemus undertake a mission to persuade him, facing challenges of deception and loyalty. Sophocles' timeless tale explores themes of betrayal.
Post-show discussions will engage audiences on relevant social issues depicted in the play, encouraging personal reflections.
Starting a week before classes, rehearsals will run Sundays through Thursdays, with varying times. Attendance will increase closer to tech/dress rehearsal.
