Pre-Professional and Exploratory Advising Center welcomes new advisors
The Pre-Professional and Exploratory Advising Center announces that Olivia Miller and Stephanie Rose have been hired as the university's new exploratory studies advisors.
In this role, Miller and Rose will support students who are:
- Deciding on their first major at K-State
- Transitioning out of their current major
- Working on the prerequisites to join a new major
- Need help with other general questions about majors, degree programs, academic advising, etc.
In support of the K-State Playbook and Next-Gen K-State strategic plan, the advisors will play a pivotal role in helping students through their unique exploratory process by recommending classes that are safe and strategic, highlighting the importance of hands-on experiences, and promoting experiences and activities to support the decision-making process.
Miller comes to K-State after working as an academic advisor at UMKC, University of Kansas and University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She has experience advising undergraduate and graduate students, and she developed her love of supporting students when working at K-State's Academic and Career Information Center as an undergraduate. She holds a bachelor's degree in political science and a master's degree in counseling and college student development, both from K-State.
Rose has been at K-State since 2017, most recently as the program coordinator for the K-State Office for the Advancement of Women in Science and Engineering, or KAWSE. Previously, she was a degree analyst for the K-State Graduate School. Her experience includes developing workshops and programming for students exploring STEM careers. She holds a bachelor's degree in marketing and a Master of Business Administration, both from K-State.
