Parking survey completed; next steps

Submitted by Casey Lauer

Colleagues:

I want to thank all of our students, faculty and staff who took the recent parking survey. You shared feedback about parking on the Manhattan campus and thoughts on where we might improve as K-State continues to grow.

Although the survey launched during a busy time with the spring semester winding down and finals coming up, nearly 5,000 of you participated. That is a remarkable response and highlights your passion for parking at K-State!

Parking Services is now reviewing your responses and comments and discussing where we can make short- and long-term improvements. Several of you shared concerns related to safety and maintenance, and we're already working with the appropriate groups on campus to develop solutions to those issues. We will make repairs, and safety will be our top priority as we improve our existing parking spaces throughout the summer.

In the long term, we'll incorporate your feedback into the Campus Master Plan. The plan, expected to be finalized in 2025, will provide the blueprint for transforming K-State's physical spaces to support the Next-Gen Strategic Plan. We aim to provide safe, affordable and sustainable parking options for all K-Staters. We are working closely with SmithGroup, the university's master planning consultant, to develop a thorough framework for K-State's parking needs.

Thank you again for taking the survey and providing your feedback. Your input is key to this process, and we'll keep you updated on our progress.
