Check out the Innovation Lab's crafting resources

Submitted by Cailin Wycoff

The Sunderland Foundation Innovation Lab in Hale Library offers many crafting resources for creators of all backgrounds and skill levels. From traditional tools to cutting-edge technologies, there is sure to be a tool perfect for you.

For aspiring clothing designers and fashion lovers, the lab offers a T-shirt press. This tool allows you to personalize plain T-shirts with custom designs, logos or even photographs. Whether you're creating merchandise for a club, designing a unique gift or simply expressing your individuality, the T-shirt press offers a fun and accessible way to transform textiles into wearable art.

We embrace the innovative world of 3D printing. From personalized gifts to creating prototypes, the facility's 3D printers can bring your design to life.

The lab also offers three laser cutters: a Glowforge Basic, a Glowforge Pro and an xTool. These cutters can handle a variety of materials, including wood, fabric and acrylic. Woodworkers can use the laser cutter for intricate designs and inlays, while fashion designers can create custom fabric patterns or garment embellishments. The laser cutter is also ideal for artists and makers who work with acrylic, allowing for precise cuts for signage, decorative elements and even custom jewelry pieces.
