Submitted by Division of Facilities
Jeff Barnes, director of Parking Services, will retire on June 7 after 26 years of service to the university.
Barnes has coordinated with numerous campus departments throughout his career to maintain campus infrastructure and services. In 1998, Barnes became the assistant director of Parking Services and external operations manager. During that time, he managed the Parking Services maintenance and enforcement operations, created shuttle systems, and established conduct codes, training practices and customer service standards.
In 2017, he was promoted to director of Parking Services, where he developed working budgets across parking sections. In February 2018, Barnes became a Certified Administrator of Public Parking from the International Parking and Mobility Institute and the University of Virginia. In addition to managing all aspects of Parking Services and departments, including maintenance, enforcement, permits and customer service, Barnes oversaw multiple million-dollar parking lot projects.
As he moves on from K-State, the Division of Facilities expresses its deepest gratitude for his dedicated service, friendship and countless contributions to the university.
