College of Business Administration hosts first Corporate Connect event

Submitted by Ruthie Gergeni

Students and corporate partners attend first Corporate Connect event.

The College of Business Administration recently hosted representatives from 21 corporate partners in the first Corporate Connect event. The purpose of the event was to provide attendees with valuable insights and best practices on how to engage effectively with students in the College of Business Administration.

Following a welcome from Kevin Gwinner, Edgerley family dean, the group was given a university update from Bill Watts, associate vice president for academic and career engagement. The event featured roundtable discussions where corporate representatives shared their experiences and strategies with each other. A student panel provided firsthand perspectives on what students seek in potential employers, especially regarding internships and post-graduation careers.

One of the key presentations, "Students Speak Out on Recruiting Engagement: Expectations and Experiences," delivered by the Scott Resource Group, offered crucial insights into students' recruitment expectations. The event also included networking opportunities during lunch and concluded with a special session for the college's Jump Start students as part of their Career Accelerator class.

"This is our first ever event where we were able to come together to network, share insights, and explore new opportunities to engage with the College of Business Administration," said Wendy Pfeifer, director of corporate engagement. "We look forward to using this event as a springboard for future collaborations to further enhance the educational experience for our students and create mutually beneficial relationships with our corporate partners."

"Corporate Connect was a great way to kick off the school year and get in tune with what students are looking for in employers," said Gracie Curl, recruiting team lead, Shamrock Trading Corporation. "The student panel was informative and provided us with great intel on students and their feelings toward internships and careers after graduation. We can't wait for next year!"
