Gov. Brownback issues 3 percent callback in state general funds

Submitted by Division of Communications and Marketing

On March 1, Gov. Sam Brownback issued a 3 percent callback in state general funds for all state universities totaling $17 million because of shortfalls in February state revenues. The Kansas Board of Regents will have the opportunity to decide how to allocate the allotment among the state universities.

If the 3 percent callback is shared equally by the universities, it translates into a total reduction of about $4.9 million — a 1.5 percent reduction from the fiscal year 2016 current general use budget for Kansas State University. This will be in addition to the 2 percent budget reduction previously announced by the university. The budget office will be sending revised callback amounts to unit heads after the information is received from the Board of Regents.

Questions should be directed to Cindy Bontrager, vice president for administration and finance, at cab@k-state.edu, or April Mason, provost, senior vice president and chair of the Budget Advisory Committee, at masona@k-state.edu

The Division of Communications and Marketing will release more information as it becomes available.
