University response to white nationalist posting

Submitted by Communications and Marketing

We are aware of the hurtful writings found on the open forum boards this afternoon at the Morris Family Multicultural Student Center. The intention of these open forums is to positively engage in dialogue and support Black History Month. These actions are not in keeping with our values and do not support our goals of creating and sustaining a climate of respect for all students.

The university condemns white nationalism as being in opposition to our values.  The hurtful act will not distract the center from its mission of bringing people together, supporting marginalized students and their opportunity to express themselves.  Diversity and Multicultural Student Affairs has scheduled a meeting to conduct a facilitated dialogue at 5 p.m. Monday, March 1, at the center. We invite students from all points of view to participate in this learning opportunity.
