Engineering student selected for international workshop for female rising stars

Submitted by Amir Bahadori

Ashleigh Mauler, a senior in the accelerated bachelor’s in mechanical and master’s in nuclear engineering program, Wichita, was chosen by the Nuclear Energy Agency of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development to participate in the 2024 NEA Global Forum Rising Stars Workshop, to be held at the European Commission Joint Research Centre in Karlsruhe, Germany, Nov. 25-26. Mauler will present a poster on her research, which compares simulated radiation doses using different methods of representing human anatomy in radiation transport codes.

The Global Forum Rising Stars program aims to achieve greater gender balance in nuclear by welcoming and integrating female rising stars in the field. Workshop attendees will include undergraduate students, graduate students and post-doctoral researchers. In addition to presenting their research, workshop participants will hear from international leaders in nuclear science, technology, education and policy; participate in career development activities; and tour Joint Research Centre facilities.
