Learning and development opportunities for supervisors

Throughout the month of February, learning and development will offer sessions on various topics specifically for supervisors and managers. These offerings are in conjunction with "Introduction to Supervision" training and these sessions are available via Zoom.
Tuesday, Feb. 18:
- "Evaluating Classified Work Performance," WHR090, will be presented from 8:30-10:00 a.m. in the commons area of Edwards Hall. Gina Lowe, coordinator in the Division of Human Resources, will present the four phases of the Performance Management Process.
- "Writing Position Descriptions," WTD028, will be presented from 10-11:45 a.m. in commons area of Edwards Hall. John Hanes, manager in the Division of Human Resources, will present the essentials of completing the position description form in compliance with the State specifications as well as address best practices for writing effective task statements.
Thursday, Feb. 20:
- "Discipline and Absenteeism," WTD 129, will be presented from 8:30-11:45 a.m. in the commons area of Edwards Hall. Gina Lowe, coordinator in the Division of Human Resources, will present the most common disciplinary problems that supervisors face, help supervisors understand the four-step discipline procedure, discuss the university’s guidelines regarding classified staff attendance and how to conduct effective conversations with employees about leave issues.
