Student invitation: 2014 Engagement Symposium
Are you attracted to service learning projects? Are you passionate about volunteering in your community? If you're excited about the future of K-State and interested in learning more about engagement, and why it's valuable to you as a student as well as the faculty and university, the 2014 Engagement Symposium is an event you won't want to miss.
Students are invited to attend the 2014 Engagement Symposium, sponsored by the provost's office, the Center for Engagement and Community Development and the School of Leadership Studies, from 9 a.m. to noon April 7. Panel discussions from national speakers will begin at 9:15 a.m. and breakout sessions will follow at 10:45 a.m. Students are welcome to attend one or both sessions.
Four national thought leaders in engagement will highlight this year's K-State Engagement Symposium. Hiram Fitzgerald, associate provost for engagement and outreach at Michigan State University, will speak about engagement and scholarship. Louis Swanson, vice president for engagement at Colorado State University, will talk about the engagement mission within the extension service. Seth Pollack, director of the Service Learning Institute at Cal State University, Monterey Bay, will speak about engaged teaching. Valerie Paton, vice provost at Texas Tech University, will discuss communicating engagement work to external stakeholders. In addition to bringing together national engagement voices, K-State faculty and staff also will highlight their work.
The annual K-State Engagement Symposium is open and free to all faculty, students and general public.
