Alianza celebrates Latina, Latino achievements at Kansas State University
Submitted by Gabriela Diaz de Sabates
On Friday, April 25, Alianza: K-State's Latino faculty and staff alliance, recognized the achievements of Latinas and Latinos on campus during a social gathering where Francisco González, friend of Alianza, played three Jarochos with a Mexican harp, and Santiago Hernández, 2014 winner of K-State Idol, played traditional Ecuadorean music.
Each year, Alianza awards scholarships to deserving K-State undergraduates. The 2013-2014 recipients of Alianza scholarships were Priscila Aguero, junior in accounting from Dodge City, and Maribel Carrillo, senior in secondary education from Garden City.
Alianza invites the K-State community to join us this fall for Hispanic Heritage Month, which will run Sept. 15 to Oct. 15. Event details will be announced at a later date.
