Majors, Minors, More event is next week
Kansas State University's 2014 Majors, Minors and More event will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, in the K-State Student Union Ballroom. It is a one-day event for anyone interested in learning more about K-State academic majors, minors and secondary majors.
"Having the event in October gives students the chance to have follow-up visits with advisers in time to complete any necessary paperwork before enrolling for the spring 2015 semester," said Michael Lynch, K-State associate vice president for student life.
Previously, the fair has attracted approximately 900 students. When surveyed, more than 95 percent of them said they would recommend this event to a friend.
"As an academic advisor, I encourage my students to feel free to step outside their preconceived plans and explore their interests and strengths," said Lindsey Morford, academic advisor for the College of Education. "This event is an excellent way for them to see all of the possibilities in one place."
Kent Kerby, associate director of undergraduate studies for the Division of Biology, said he can't think of a better way for our first-year students to find out all the opportunities K-State has to offer.
The Majors, Minors and More event features representatives from all nine K-State colleges. Individual departments and student services representatives will talk to students about academic majors, minors, secondary majors and career alternatives.
